Monroe, WA (September 4, 2010): American Family Insurance presented NASCAR Night at the Races on Saturday September 4th. The annual day one of the holiday weekend doubleheader during the Evergreen State Fair was successful for Lane Sundholm in the NASCAR Whelan All American Series Street Stock feature winner. The NASCAR Whelan All American Series Super Late Model main was won by Jeff Knight. Foster Press Mini-Stock feature winner was Steve Green and the Stinger 8 main was won by Steve Peters.
It was an easy win if there is such a thing in the Street Stock division for Sundholm. Adding to his win total Sundholm moved one giant step towards the championship. Brian Cottrell finished second just ahead of Frank Cowgill.
Knight got the lead on the second lap and led the entire way of the Super Late Model 30-lap main. Point leader Tom Moriarity finished second and Tom Hughs was third.
The Stinger 8 main was very eventful with plenty of traffic at the intersection. Peters did what he does best and used that traffic to his advantage. Peters well on his way to a divisional title coasted home to the win of the 25-lap feature. Cody Koroshes was second well ahead of Josh Young.
The chase for the Foster Press Mini-Stock championship did not change much with one race left this season. Winner Green is not in that points chase but second place finisher Scott LaCross now has a slim 3 point edge heading into that final race on September 18th. Second in points and third in the race Kris Harriss lost two points to LaCross with a third place finish of their 25-lap main.
Next up at Evergreen Speedway is the Fair Demolition Derby/Fireworks show presented by the US Army on Sunday September 5th. School Bus races, Roll Over Contest, Boat Races, Cub Scouts of America Hornets plus the ‘Death Trap Fire’ stunt. Gates open at 5pm and the smashing/ crashing action starts at 7pm. Monroe, WA (August 29, 2010): Greg Scott won the 27th Annual Figure Eight Nationals at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday night August 28th. The NASCAR Whelan All American Series Super Late Model main was won by division point leader Tom Moriarity. Foster Press Mini-Stock defending champion Kris Harris won their feature. The new Renegade V-8 division winner was Scott Giebel.
Scott survived the 100-lap premier figure eight event. The feature began with 23-cars receiving the green flag. The race had six lead changes amongst five drivers. Shane Sawin led the most laps but a spin on lap 72 sent him back to fourth and Scott inherited the lead for good. Nick Gunderson survived a mid race spin to finish 2nd while early race leader Seth Funden finished 3rd.
The Super Late Model main winner Moriarity added to his total wins with his seventh this season. With two divisional races remaining, the win could carry Moriarity on to an unprecedented sixth Super Late Model championship at Evergreen Speedway. Jeff Knight finished second with Rick Hager in third.
Harris won his fourth feature in 2010. The tightly contested chase for the Foster Press Mini-Stock division title got even tighter. The win by 2nd in points Harris drew him to only a point behind leader Scott LaCross. LaCross finished the main in second while third in points Jon Roberts finished third and remained very much in the hunt for the championship. With two races to go this season it looks to come down the final race on September 18th to decide who receives top honors.
Renegade V-8 racer Giebel won yet another main albeit the toughest of the season. Taking the lead from Conner Graber in the final stages of the feature, Giebel had to withstand many an attempt by Graber to regain the lead. Graber finished second and Charles Sonsteng was third.
Next up at Evergreen Speedway is NASCAR Night at the Races presented by American Family Insurance on Saturday night September 4th as part of the Evergreen State Fair on Labor Day weekend. The NASCAR Whelan All American Series Street Stocks and Super Late Model divisions will be in action. The Foster Press Mini-Stocks, Stinger 8 divisions plus a ‘Death Trap’ fire stunt round out a top notch night at the race track. The activities start at 7pm. Remember to ask for a combo ticket when coming into the fairgrounds it will save you money.

Contrary to many of the rumors that are circulating, the Figure-8 nationals, is not an “open comp“ race. All cars will be required to meet the 2010 Super Figure-8 rules. This includes the weight rules, and the tire rules. However, we have made a few exceptions in the interest of attracting a larger field.
- 1 ½” tube cars will be allowed to run.
- 25 championship points will be awarded to all participants.
- Starting positions will be determined by a drawing not qualifying.

Monroe, WA (August 21, 2010): Three divisional point leaders won on Fan Appreciation Night presented by USG at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday night August 21st. Lane Sundholm won the NASCAR Whelan All American Series Street Stock main. Steve Peters won the Stinger 8 main and Scott LaCross won the Foster Press Mini-Stock feature. Also making it to victory stage were Cub Scouts of America Hornet division winners Ken Moi and Chris Williamson. In the renegade V-8 division Scott Giebel won and the Northwest Outlaw Street Stock main was won by Dave Lund.
Sundholm won his 9th feature of the season and slightly padded his point lead with just three races remaining in the 2010 championship chase. Sundholm grabbed the lead early and never looked back by not being challenged during the 25-lap feature event. Duane Schoesbeck finished a distant second and Darrel Lutovsky third.
The Stinger 8 point leader Peters had to pass his son Sean to take the lead during the 25-lap main. Peters held back all challengers including second place Mike Middleton and Sean Peters who finished third.
The very tightly contested Foster Press Mini-Stock divisional championship chase went in the favor of leader and main event winner LaCross. LaCross gained the lead early and used it to his advantage by keeping his two rivals for the championship at bay. Kris Harris second in points also finished the main in that position and Jon Roberts was third in the race and is in the points. Only five points is all that separate the three with three races left in their season.
In the hornet division over 30-cars showed forcing two mains. Moi was declared the winner of the 15-lap B-main after winner Steve Anderson and Michael Heald took the transfer spots for the A-main. The 25-lap A-main was won by Williamson with John Wagner second and Mike Hessler third.
The Northwest Outlaw Street Stock 75-lap feature was no contest for former Evergreen ace Lund. Pulling away by as much as half a lap Lund was back in victory lane after eight years. Lane Sundholm was second and series regular Josh Ingram third.
Scott Giebel won the Renegade V-8 main over Conner Grabber.
Next up at Evergreen Speedway on August 28th during the Evergreen State Fair is the annual Figure Eight Nationals one of the nation’s largest figure eight races. Also on the docket are the NASCAR Whelan All American Series Super Late Models, Foster Press Mini-Stocks and Renegade V-8 divisions. There will be a death defying stunt titled the ‘The Man on Fire’.
