The Pawn Exchange Super Figure Eights hit the “x” for the 2009 version of 60 Minutes of Fear and Greg Scott was in a world of his own. The car and driver were a perfect fit as Scott used his experience, skill and horsepower to leave the field behind on his way to winning his second 60 Minutes of Fear. Joining Scott on the podium were Shane Sawin in second and Ricky “The Kid” Dietz in third.
In the Speedway Chevrolet Super Late Model division Travis Bennet made the most of starting on the pole by going flag to flag for the win. Travis was driving the Darin Stordahl owned Short Track Enterprises car and got everything he could get out of it, next up for Travis will the Camping World West Series in Roseburg, Or. The race would end with a green, white and checker finish and Daniel Moore made the most of it by going side by side with defending champion Naima Lang in a battle for second, Moore won the drag race to the checkers by a bumper and took home a second place finish while Naima would have to settle for third.
The Les Schwab street stock race saw the return of Lane Sundholm to victory stage. Lane is once again trying to work his way back up the points standings as he chases his third championship in a row. Jill Lang in her first appearance of the year brought it home second followed by the now season points leader Frank Cowgill.
The stinger eights once again had a large turnout and Lance O’Grain for the second time this year had to wait for the tower to call the finish because it was that close and once again it was Lance O’Grain for the win. Seth Funden and Cody Koroshes finished second and third.

Sunday May 24th was Mayhem and Monster trucks. Sponsored by the US Army, the night started off with a great crowd flowing through the gates right up until the start. Former Army soldier Jeff Johnson performed the national anthem while Sky View Aerial Platform provided the crowd with a fly over and aerobatic display. King Crunch, Time Flys and the rest of the monster truck field wow’ed the crowd with their awesome power and heart racing thunder. The school bus figure eight race sporting new paint schemes had plenty of action at the intersection. The boat race was filled with carnage and rollover contest left no car unturned..
The Hornet class had an incredible filed of cars with 47 cars taking the green flag in their 2 main events. The first main event was all Mike Dafen Grosshopper followed by Zack Larson and Chris Williamson with Jason Brownzanes and Jaime Corbett rounding out the top five. In the 2nd of the main events for the hornets was action packed on the modified road course. The dirt piles and crush cars made for some incredible wheel action from the drivers. Ken Moi and David Dixon battled back and forth for the lead the entire race with lap traffic making it difficult for either driver to get away from the other. Ken Moi took the checkered flag first with Dixon finishing 2nd then both cars went spinning just after the finish line. Kyle Shukar 3rd, Patric Heald 4th, and Sean Gerity rounding out the top five.
“Mr. Dizzy ” Mike Buse performing another of his amazing stunts, this time in a motor home all but cleared his train of vehicles he was to use for his landing coming to a stop up against the front stretch wall and the free style monster truck dirt pile.
The evening ended with a terrific fireworks display the lit up the sky and shook the grandstands.

Super Late Model Rule Amendment
May 19, 2009 by admin
This rule amendment was made in the spirit of being inclusive to the racers. Johnson Productions and staff welcomes racers from other facilities to join us at the Super Speedway of the West and we hope that this subtle change will help to make that possible. Evergreen Speedway will continue in its efforts to make racing at Evergreen Speedway as easy a transition as possible for those who wish to join us when they have a night off from their home track, just as we hope our racers will support other facilities throughout the Northwest as well. For additional information contact the Speedway Office.

Chris Preston came to the aid of Jeff Knight and offered up his back up car for Jeff to use for the night.
Heat races got started promply at 7:00 with the youth hornets, hornets and mini stocks and then we rolled promptly into the night main events. First out of the box were the Mt Baker Council Hornets and two main events for that field who had the largest car count of the night. Jason Mcquinn and Chris Williamson were the winners.
The Foster Press mini stocks winner was season points leader Nat Barber followed by John Roberts and in third was Michael Fritz.
Youth Hornets winner was Brent Crise but in a show of support and good will towards that division by Billie Williams all youth hornet drivers were awarded trophies that were donated by Billie on victory stage.
The night was closed out on the biggest track in the Northwest as the Speedway Chevrolet Super Late models took the green flag. Chris Preston was strong early and pulled away from Naima Lang and James Mugge as those two went to battling each other for the second spot. Once Naima was around Mugge it was not long before he had caught Preston and passed him for the lead, after that it was all Naima Lang up front. Behind Naima was alot of racing action as spots were being traded back and forth between James Mugge, Tom Hughs, Darin Stordahl and Natalie Sather. When it all settled out in the end it was Naima Lang first to the checkers followed Tom Hughs and Mugge in third.

The field took the green flag in the Speedway Chevrolet Super Late Model main and Tom Hughs went to the front early in a bid to finish what he had started two weeks ago before a hard crash into the front stretch wall ended his hopes of a victory. Hughes was off to a good lead but back in the pack were Naima Lang and James Mugge working together to get through traffic. Once Naima cleared he set his sights on Hughs and reeled him in. It was Naima to the end once grabbing the lead in what was by far the defending champions strongest run of the year. Following Naima to the line was season points leader James Mugge and the Hughs.
