Les Schwab Tires Mid Season Championships

Les Schwab Tires Mid season championship night at Evergreen Speedway had a terrific night for racing. The Stinger 8 race started the show with a field of 16 cars. Jim Putney made for a lot of excitement at the intersection. There was plenty of close racing and in the end it was Cody Koroshes with the win John Lewis in 2nd and points leader Seth Funden rounding out the top 3.
In the Foster Press Mini stock race. It was Definitely Michael Fritz’s night. After battling early for the lead with the veteran Bob Edwards, Michael took the lead and never looked back. Lap after lap he extended his lead until the rest of the field was barely visible in his rear view mirror. John Roberts and Scott LaCross battled for 2nd and 3rd and Kris Harris finished 4th.
The Pawn X-change Super figure 8 race, although the intersection was never really much of a factor was still an incredible race. Shane Sawin held off a hard charging and extremely clean driving John Carlson. The 2 battled for nearly the entire 40 lap main event. Each time Carlson made an attempt to “move” Sawin out of the way. Shane maneuvered his car back into position to hold him from making the pass. Troy Siminiar and Doug Delfel finished 3rd and 4th.
In the nights title sponsor Les Schwab Tire Street stock division. 17 cars took the green flag and the racing was very fast and exciting from the start. Andy Sole jumped out to an early lead and led for the first half of the 40 lap main event. Because of the commitment cone Lane Sundholm was able to pick up 3 positions under the races first caution flag. With the top 3 picking the low lane Lane picked the high line and moved up 3 spots on the restart. Shortly after the restart the defending champion put some distance on the field, taking the lead and taking the victory. Second was Andy Sole with 2 time 2009 winner Darrel Lutovsky finishing 3rd.

Blackwood's first win in 2009
On a cool breezy evening Naima Lang sent the message to the rest of the field that his 2 wins in one night was no fluke. Naima captured his 3rd straight victory in a row by riding easy through the first half of the season and then running away at the end. Steve Ptacek made a late charge to finish second and Jeff Knight who was very strong through the middle portion finished third.
In the Les Schwab Tire Street Stocks Travis Blackwood took advantage of starting in the second row and went to the lead very early and never looked back, that is untill Joe Kneeland popped up on his rear bumper. Kneeland gave Blackwood all he could handle but not more. Blackwood picked up his first win of 2009, Kneeland 2nd and Lane Sundholm 3rd
Foster Press Mini Stocks were in action with Scott Lacrosse looking to make it two in a row, but Clint Lang making his first start of the year wasn’t having it. Lang brought it to the checkers first with Lacrosse second and Kris Harris third.
Ricky Deitz was the winner in the Pawn Exchange Super Figure 8’s followed by “Cowboy” John Carlson and Troy Siminer finished third in his first start of the year.
Hornets were on the modified road course and that was won by Billie Williams and the Youth Hornet main was taken by Dan Gimmaka.
