Monroe, WA (June 28, 2010): Three of Evergreen Speedway’s current point leaders for their respective season championship were winners at the Les Schwab Tires mid season Championships. By way of his sixth place finish Jim Foti won the free weekend’s rental of an RV courtesy of Seattle RV

Moriarity continued his winning ways with his sixth win in nine starts this season. The beginning of the race Moriarity made some spectacular moves on the outside of three wide racing to take the lead that was never relinquished. John Zaretzke finished second and Andy Sole made it the podium in his rookie season.

Super Figure Eight racer Jake Repin kept his stronghold on the points lead with the win of his division’s main. Seth Funden finished second with Chuck Widdis third.

The Foster Press Mini-Stock main winner Scott LaCross won his second in a row and took over the points from Jon Roberts who finished fourth. Kris Harris finished second. Ryan Rasmussen finished third.

Lance O’Grain won the Stinger 8 main, his first this season. O’Grain remained in third place in the 2010 points chase while gaining a few points on leader Steve Peters who finished third. Mike Middleton also gained on leader Peters with a second.

Monroe, WA (June 24, 2010): Saturday night June 26th Evergreen Speedway plays host to the Les Schwab Tires Mid Season Championships for the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Street Stocks, Super Late Models, Foster Press Mini-Stocks, Stinger 8’s and the Super Figure Eight divisions. The end of the first half of the season has all the divisions in a tight points chase for their respective 2010 championships.  A $4.00 off coupon can be obtained at various Les Schwab Tires stores.

In the Street Stock division current point leader and defending champion Lane Sundholm is leading by just 7-points over Darrell Lutovsky and 9-points up on Frank Cowgill. After winning last week’s main Joe Kneeland has put himself into the championship picture just 22-points back of Sundholm. As an added bonus to their mid season championship main, a number will be drawn and the driver finishing in that corresponding numbered position will receive a free weekends use of an RV, courtesy of Seattle RV.

Tom Moriarity, who has had a slim lead all season long for the Super Late Model division championship, lost a few points to Jeff Knight this past week after Knight won the main and Moriarity finished third. The point differential heading into the pivotal mid season race is a minor 6-points. It was Knight’s first win of the season and only his second in his short career as a late model racer. Daniel Moore is definitely in the hunt just 18-points out of the lead.

The Foster Press Mini-Stock division has its own tight chase for the championship going. Current leader Jon Roberts has a slight advantage over, last race winner, Scott LaCross and defending champion Kris Harris. The margin is just 8-points with Harris and LaCross tied for second. Former division champion Nat Barber is just 13-points back in fourth.

The only division with a comfortable point’s difference for their championship is in the Stinger 8 chase. The leader of the pack, in the 4-cylinder figure eight cars, is Steve Peters who enjoys a 39-point cushion. Former division champion Mike Middleton is in pursuit with his brand new Ford Focus. Lance O’Grain holds onto the third spot. Peters knows all too well that one miscue during a main or two and he is in a tight tussle for his first ever division championship.

Super Figure Eight point leader Jake Repin is looking to garner his first championship. Repin has former champion John Carlson breathing down his neck just 21-points back. Dale Larson is third.

The Les Schwab Tires Mid Season Championships action gets underway at 7pm with front gates opening at 5pm. For tickets and information call the speedway office at 360-805-6100.

Evergreen Speedway

Alfy’s Presents Kids night at Evergreen Speedway and the Guns and Hoses Grudge race

A full night of racing at the track with Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Hornets and Renegade V8’s. Weather was a concern most of the day, but not a rain drop fell until moments after the final checkered flag of the evening.

06-19-10 134First up on the grid were the ever popular hornets. 24 cars took the green flag on the road course. Points leader, Jaime Corbett, and Joe Tymczak battled hard at the start of the race with Joselyn LaFleur, Mike Daher and Mike Hessler close behind.  A mid-race spin by Richard Morgan running in the 3rd spot collected a few cars and allowed the leaders to gain a big lead. Defending champion Chris Williamson starting in the last spot on the grid was gaining spots on every lap. At the finish and posting his first win was Tymczak followed by Williamson, Daher, Corbett and Hessler

06-19-10 152In the mini stock main event is was all Scott LaCross. At the drop of the green flag Scott almost immediately took the lead and never looked back. Nat Barber and Kriss Harriss battled side by side for a number of laps for the 2nd spot and eventually Harriss would own the position. Barber, battling back from a destroyed racecar in his last race looked to be improving all day and finished 3rd Andrew Shukar in 4th and Travis Woodward rounding out the top 5.

06-19-10 200The Super Late Model race saw Jeff Knight get his first win of the season, 2 years to the day since his last victory. The Snohomish Pie Company racing machine looked very strong stretching the lead out lap after lap. Tom Hughs and Tom Moriarty battled side by side for a number of laps, at one point contact was made sending Hughs on a big spin on the front stretch, Moriarty with no-where to go made a big veteran move and came to a stop instead of trying to drive through a hole that would close fast. On the restart after the yellow, Moriarty had to come from the back, but Daniel Moore with a solid car, held Moriarty off to finish 2nd, Travis Blackwood finished 4th, Hughs 5th and Andy Sole in 6th.

06-19-10 167The Guns and Hoses grudge race saw fire fighters and police officers battling it out for bragging rights. Snohomish County Deputy, Jim Gibson took home the trophy and was excited not just for the win but for being part of the action.

06-19-10 212The street stock main event also had a run away winning with Joe Kneeland. Kneeland made quick work of the getting to the lead, with street stock rookies Joselyn LaFleur and Christopher Barkley on the front row Jim Foti, Kneeland, Darrel Lutovsky and Lane Sundholm all wanted to get in front of them fast. Kneeland was the first to do it and never was challenged after taking the lead. 3 time defending champion, Lane Sundholm, Lutovsky and Foti challenged each other for most of the race over the 2nd spot. Going door to door for a number of laps. At the end it was Kneeland, Sundholm, Foti, Lutovsky and Barkley rounding out the top 5.

06-19-10 227The Renegade V8’s were the last event of the evening. Scott Gieble  took home the hardware followed by the brother and sister team of Charles Sunstang and April Sunstang in 2nd and 3rd and Conner Graber in 4th.
