Monroe, WA (July 22, 2010): Saturday night July 24th the annual Fuzion Mobile Washington 500 rolls at Evergreen Speedway in Monroe, WA. Four divisions of race cars race for a total of 500 grueling main event laps. The opening race of a three race series called the Triple Crown for Tour type late model stock cars debuts for 175-laps on the big 5/8-mile oval. The NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Models and Street Stock divisions race for 150 and 75 laps respectively on the big track. The Super Figure Eight division has a 100-lap main to round out the night. The start time has been moved to 5pm to accommodate for the large number of main event laps.
The first of a three race series called the Evergreen Speedway Triple Crown makes its debut. This series will have some of the best late model stock car racers in the Northwest competing for the individual race purse and the overall three race champion incentives.
Super Late Model point leader Tom Moriarity looks to pad his 20-point margin over Daniel Moore. Moriarity wants to make up for a snafu he suffered during the last division race on the big track when he was dominating the race until he ran out of fuel. Third in points Jeff Knight went on to win that race his second win this season. The division has been off since July 3rd.
Lane Sundholm defending champion of the Street Stock division has been dominate lately with three straight victories. Even with all the wins this season (8) Sundholm only leads by 22-points for the 2010 championship. Darrel Lutovsky and Frank Cowgill are tied for second.
Super Figure Eight point leader Jake Repin will have to make it through the figure eight intersection 200 times and hope he does it ahead of his nemesis in route to what could be his first ever championship. Nemesis, John Carlson will be vying to follow last week’s win with another.
All the activity starts at 10am with back gates opening, followed by rotating practices for the four divisions. The qualifying begins at 3pm. Front gates will open at 3pm. The racing action gets underway at 5pm.
