Monroe, WA (July 24, 2010): The annual Fuzion Mobile Washington 500 at Evergreen Speedway was graced by great weather and super driving from all who participated in the four racing divisions. 500-laps of main event racing had John Zaretzke winning the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Model 150. Lane Sundholm kept his strangle hold on the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Street Stock division with another win of the 75-lap feature. Part time racer Steve Cox won the 100-lap Super Figure Eight main. Northwest racing veteran Pete Harding won leg one of the Evergreen Speedway Triple Crown Series 175.
Harding won the inaugural Triple Crown race going away. In the first 90-laps before the break Harding had a big lead that was eaten up by Naima Lang. In the second half Harding tightened up the car and was able to keep well in front of Lang. John Zaretzke finished third. The second round of the Triple Crown is scheduled for August 21 and the finale is on September 18.
In the Super Late Model Main a heated side by side battle for the lead went on for quite some time. Lap after lap race winner Zaretzke race with Jeff Knight and had the crowd on their feet. The two gave each other plenty of room but overtaking a lapped car Zaretzke used it to his advantage to gain the win. James Mugge held off Andy Sole to finish third. Point leader for the 2010 championship Tom Moriarity made contact with then race leader Jon Hubbert and was sent to the back of the field and never recovered and finished fifth.
The Street Stock division point leader Sundholm continue with his win streak now four in a row and ninth of the season. Starting on the pole of the main Sundholm never had anyone even close. Darrel Lutovsky finished a distant second just ahead of Frank Cowgill.
The race of the night was the Super Figure Eight feature. Cox got out front early in the 100-lapper. Point leader Jake Repin tucked in behind Cox and was there virtually the entire race. Repin tried in vain to pass Cox to no avail. Steve peters finished a very close third.
Next up at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday July 31st is the Stinger 8 World Championship including the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Super Late Models on the 3/8-mile oval, Cub Scouts of America Hornets, Renegade V-8’s and Drifting. Front doors open at 5pm and racing commences at 7pm.
