Monroe, WA (March 29, 2011): We can all ‘stop freakin’ about a long winter without racing. On
Saturday April 2nd Beacon Plumbing presents the season opening race at Evergreen Speedway. The night
features the fastest cars ever at the speedway the American Speed Association Northwest Sprint Car
Racing Association (Winged Sprint Cars) and the northwest’s best late model stock racers assemble for
the Trick Racing Series 100 and Race #1 of the Evergreen Speedway ‘Big West Series’ all on the monster
5/8-mile paved oval. Included in the pre-race happy hour from 4pm to 6pm will be special food and
beverage prices and from 5pm to 6pm the famous US Army Field Band ‘The Volunteers’ will perform.
Racing starts at 6pm the new time each Saturday during the 2011 season.
The ASA NSRA returns to the fastest and longest paved oval on their schedule. The track many
call ‘almost too tough to tame’, the monster 5/8-mile over the many years, has given many a racer
plenty to ponder about. Of any traveling series that comes to Evergreen Speedway the open wheeled
winged sprint car drivers of the NSRA have proved to be the masters. Holding the all time speed record
the ground pounding speed demons will vie to lower their qualifying times once again.
The new Trick Racing Series makes its season and speedway debut featuring, drivers that travel with
the series plus many of the local super late model stock car racers, racing for 100-laps on the monster
track. Some of the local drivers expected include defending Evergreen Speedway NASCAR Whelen
All American Series Super Late Model champion Tom Moriarity (Monroe, WA), Evergreen Speedway
feature winner and pastor of the ‘Rock Church’ Jeff Knight (Monroe, WA), former Tour driver Jason
Fraser (Snohomish, WA), 2010 Richard Petty Drivers Search contestant Tyler Allen (Bellevue, WA),
former Evergreen Speedway track champion Naima Lang (Lynnwood, WA), LMCS and Tour driver Mark
Sundberg (Seattle, WA) and former South Sound Speedway and Yakima Speedway champion Kelly Mann
(Monroe, WA).
The Beacon Plumbing Season Opener starts at the new time of 6pm. Back-gates will open at 11am for
the race teams. The front- gates open at 4pm with happy hour food and beverage pricing. The much
traveled US ARMY Field Band ‘The Volunteers’ perform from 5pm to 6pm. Tickets are $20 for Adults;
$15 for Seniors (62+)/Juniors (13-17); $10 for Military; $5 for children (7-12) and Kids 6 & under are free.

Hubbard’s Win 8 Hour Enduro at Evergreen Speedway
Monroe, WA (March 27, 2011): The father son team of Mark and Cullen Hubbard (Seattle) won the first annual Interstate Batteries Built Tough 8 Hour Enduro at Evergreen Speedway on Sunday March 27th. Forty-Two cars started the long endurance race at 10am and 26 finished eight hours later at 6pm. Second place went to another father son team of Troy and Brett Fetzer (Everett) on son Brett’s 21st birthday. Finishing third was the family team of Donald and Bruce Hall (Issaquah, Maple Valley).
The Hubbard team was down over four laps to the leaders. Attrition and driver changes caused the other leading teams to relinquish the lead to the Hubbard’s with over 2.5 hours remaining. When asked if they knew they were leading, Mark stated, “we heard we were up by three laps so when the Fetzer team passed us a few times I raced like crazy at the end.” The Hubbard’s won the race by six laps and the $4,000.00 winner’s check.
Up next at Evergreen Speedway on Saturday April 2nd is the season opener on the giant 5/8 mile oval. Returning are the fastest group of cars ever to race on the ‘Super Speedway of the West’, the ASA (American Speed Association) NSRA (Northwest Sprintcar Racing Association) and their first time at Evergreen Speedway the Trick Racing Gasoline Super Late Model 125. Racing starts at 6pm.
