The Coors Light Summer Showdown presented by NAPA Auto Parts at Evergreen Speedway on June 27, 28. & 29 is the biggest Super Late Model Race on the West Coast. The list of competitors after the $12,000.00 to win 200-lap event on the Northwest’s longest track the 5/8-mile paved oval is growing daily. Among the many that have already been mentioned in previous releases there are most of the speedways regulars going after their share of the $80,0000.00 plus purse.

Saturday’s opening ceremonies will include the National Anthem being sung by Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Member and the founder of Heart, Roger Fisher. Born in Seattle, Washington, Roger Fisher was the founding guitarist of the rock group Heart, globally known through the sales of more than 30 million albums.

There is a very strong contingent of local Super Late Model racers that will be on the BIG track after the big money. They include Jeff Knight (Monroe, WA), Mark Sundberg (Seattle, WA), Doni Wanat (Woodinville, WA), Tommy Rasmussen (Eatonville, WA) and Andy Sole ( Marysville, WA)to mention a few.

A couple more of our Canadian friends are expected. If conditions in his part of Canada permit, Brian Levant (Calgary, Alberta, Canada)states on his web page that he is coming. Korbin Thomas (Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada) is also expected.

A recent addition to the very formidable list is Braeden Havens (Airway Heights, WA). Havens adds to the list of young drivers making this year’s Summer Showdown the youngest Super Late Model race in the history of Evergreen Speedway. The 19-year old has already amassed a strong set of credentials with 4 Karting Championships, the ICAR Rookie of the Year and the 2012 INSSA Championship. The student at Spokane Community College has also run on NASCAR’s prestigious K&N Pro Series West with strong results. Nine drivers attempting to make the 33-car starting field are under the age of twenty-four.

Another new entry is from Eastern Oregon’s Tim Babcock who has run at Hermiston Super Oval in Hermiston, OR.

With more entries expected from drivers in Southern Oregon and from South Sound Speedway, the list expands daily.

The 2013 Summer Showdown gets its start on Thursday June 27 and ending with the 200-lap Summer Showdown on the BIG 5/8-mile oval on Saturday June 29. With a lot of racing in-between.

Evergreen Speedway has arranged for discounted ($12.50 per day) RV/Camping on the Fairgrounds. Call 360-805-6100 for reservations.
