Evergreen Speedway Recap for 4/25/15 and MyLaps Link

Five classes of race cars took to the track Saturday night at Evergreen Speedway, including an

exciting demonstration by the Evergreen Drift cars that filled the air with tire smoke and a bunch

of new fans in the grandstands.

Up first in the Interstate Batteries Hornet division, Scott Hunt in his #22 car wrestled the lead

away from a hard charging Cody Hoopes on lap 15 and hung on for the victory. Hoopes finished

2nd with Mike Ridley in the 3rd spot.

The Outlaw Figure 8’s had a dry track to race on in preparation for their upcoming 60 Minutes

of FEAR show next Saturday, and it was the fence climbing Cowboy John Carlson dominating

the event with a wire to wire 30 lap main event win. Nick Gunderson finished 2nd with last

season’s champion Mike Steltz taking 3rd. In a classy move, the driver of the 74 car Chris Curtis

made his way up to the stage to personally thank all his competitors for their help in repairing

his car’s earlier crash damage.

Evergreen Drift made quite an impression on the fans. When the smoke cleared, last season’s

champion Cameron Moore wowed the crowd with the win. Matt Van Kirk finished 2nd and Cole

Werner finished 3rd. They then brought their cars up to the grandstand and happily answered

questions and proudly showed off their amazing cars.

The WESCO Sprints were on hand for their first appearance at Evergreen Speedway. The main

event was a 30 lap feature with the #4 car of Mike Midendorf laying waste to the field with a

margin of victory totaling 9 seconds over 2nd place finisher Doug McLees. Cameron Neissenger

finished 3rd.

The Les Schwab NASCAR Street Stocks finished off the night with last season champion Roger

Drake getting a close win over a hard charging Kenny Erickson. Drake took the lead on lap 10,

and had a mirror full of Erickson’s white #22 Camaro for the rest of the race. The soon to be

graduating from high school Chad Fitzpatrick brought his #12 car to the finish in 3rd place.

Up next at Evergreen Speedway will be the iconic 60 Minutes of FEAR on May 2nd. This race is

one of the favorites for not only the fans in the grandstands, but the participants as well. The 60

Minutes of FEAR always brings out the best of the best, with both the Outlaw Figure 8’s and

Monroe Grocery Outlet Super Stock Figure 8’s filling out the field. Tickets can be purchased on

line at www.evergreenspeedway.com.
